Highly Versatile Vessel to Support Controlled Source Electromagnetic (CSEM) Survey WorkMORRISTOWN, NJ - November 14, 2006 --
Tyco Telecommunications, a business unit of Tyco Electronics and an industry pioneer in undersea communications technology and marine services, announced today that it has chartered the CS Teneo to UK-based Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping plc (OHM) for a period of five months, with extension options. The CS Teneo will function as the support platform for a number of CSEM surveys being conducted by OHM in North West Europe, West Africa and the Falkland Islands.
“The oil and gas industry relies on CSEM surveying, a remote sensing tool, to map subsurface geology for hydrocarbon detection, and the CS Teneo is perfectly equipped for our needs,” stated Jon Nicholls, operations manager of OHM. “Tyco Telecommunications’ vessels are ideally suited for the deployment of our equipment and the crews are highly experienced in the type of recovery operations we require.”
The Spanish registered CS Teneo, a highly versatile 80-meter vessel, forms part of a fleet of specialized vessels and sub-sea equipment owned and operated by Tyco Telecommunications which also includes six 140m Reliance Class vessels.
“The CS Teneo has a long track record of effective and economic operations over a range of offshore projects. She is well suited to shelf operations and has been working in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and North European regions for the past year,” stated Mark Wickham, director for global sales, marine services, Tyco Telecommunications. “This charter further demonstrates Tyco Telecommunications’ successes expanding its capabilities into the offshore hydrocarbons market, and follows the recent charter of the 140m Tyco Decisive for pipeline trenching work in the Gulf of Mexico.”

OHM's survey method transmits an electromagnetic field into the earth, which is
modified by the presence of subsurface resistive layers. These changes in the
field are measured and the resulting data is processed to provide information on
the resistive structure of the subsurface.
Because hydrocarbon accumulations are generally very resistive, this method can indicate the presence of oil and gas in water depths of as little as 50 metres in certain circumstances and can detect and map the edges of such accumulations. This reduces the risk of drilling non-commercial exploration wells and can reduce the need for appraisal drilling, thereby creating considerable value for
The company listed on London's Alternative Investment Market in March 2004.
